John Mayer's Foot Bullets; Is It Racism, High Digree Of Stupidy Or A Lack Of Formal Education?

By now you have undoubtedly heard of John Mayer's latest round of foot bullets via his interview with Playboy Magazine where he talks, and talks and talks..... about Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, his supposed racist dick, endless masturbation, complete with a N*gger mention, all that has everyone on the “internets” and beyond in quite a tizzy.
John “apologized” first on Twitter, saying,
“It’s such a shame that I [used the N-word] because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged… I wanted to be a blues guitar player. And a singer. And a songwriter. Not a shock jock. I don’t have the stomach for it. Again, because I don’t want anyone to think I’m equivocating: I should have never said the word and I will never say it again. I just wanted to play the guitar for people.”
and then again his teary “apology” on stage in Nashville last night.
I put “apology” in quotation marks because as you've noticed, of his whole interview he seems to be apologizing only for the N word mention, but not for any of the other equally stupid things he said in the interview, or the people he slammed in that interview.
Reading the JM's interview, I couldn't help thinking that John Mayer is basically a regular (not evil) horny douche guy with an unfortunate penchant toward hoof-in-mouth disease.
Stupid? yes, to the highest degree, not because he is not intelligent, given his many other interviews you know he's got some intelligence, he just lacks a formal education that would have helped him phrase his thoughts differently, less inflammatory, less ridiculously or stupidly as he tries to “shock” or stay relevant.
Racist? I think not. We all have to agree that its ok for John to say he's not attracted to black women, its a preference of his and that's ok. He may have chosen the WORST way of expressing that thought, choosing to declare his dick a card carrying, certified member of the KKK but that doesn't make him wrong or discriminatory… in fact his whole interview left me thinking John has a serious inferiority complex with a lack of self awareness to know that and so over compensates by being overly sexualized and completely self absorbed.
As for the N*gger mention? his quote sounded to me more in same spirit/vein as Harry Reid‘s infamous “Obama lacks the negro dialect, hence will be nominated and will win” quote, inarticulate yes, but true and not derived from racism, in fact quite contrary, John actually had a point to make on the “hood pass” thing, he just didn’t phrase it the best way he could, and that said, did someone give John Mayer the hood pass and no black person knew about that?
John now says he's done with media/interviews and just wants to play his guitar, well, go do that son.. the whole “shock” thing is not working for ya.

The Convenient Ku Klux Klan Tendencies Of Rush Limbaugh

This is Rush Limbaugh of George Bush era
We see all these pictures. There is human suffering. We are Americans, and this is what we have always done, and we are always going to do it… There's doing the right thing regardless of consequences and regardless of extraneous circumstances, and this is one of those things. These are human beings in need. There's nobody else that can do this, and we are going to do it. That is who we are, and we are not going to have strings attached to it, and we may in fact not be thanked, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do it, because we're not doing it for that reason. We're not doing it for gratitude; we're not doing it for support. We're not doing it for love; we're not doing it for loyalty. You might say we're doing it for love. We're doing it because it's the right thing to do. That's who we are as a people. You don't have to give individually if you don't want to but there will not be a movement – there may be a movement but it will have no life – to dissuade people from donating. It's going to be just the opposite.
-Rush Limbaugh, January 3, 2005 in the aftermath of the tsunami
Back then, the moral and upstanding people of the United States would help the countries torn apart by the tsunami on December 26, 2004.
But that's not the Rush we see today. This is him in the now, with the Haiti tragedy: Mr. Limbaugh wasted no time trying to turn the horrific tragedy in Haiti into a most unfortunate and gross partisan attack on the very people working around the clock to save as many lives as possible:
[Paraphrased via Media Matters here and here] I want you to remember, it took [Obama] three days – three days! – to respond to the Christmas Day fruit of ka-boom bomber … He comes out here in less than 24 hours to speak about Haiti … [later in same program] … they'll use this to burnish ahhh their, ahhh shall we say, ahhh credibility with the black community, both the light skinned and, ahhh, hmmm … dark skinned black community …
Yes for Rush Limbaugh, at this very moment the streets of Haiti's capital are littered with bodies of the dead and dying. Thousands of men, women, and children – including an unknown number of Americans – buried alive under tons of rubble, many no doubt crying out in agony for help that will come too late this racist Limbaugh doesn't even have the decency to wait for them to finish dying before equating their death and suffering to an incident where no one got a scratch except the bad guy.
Today, Rush sees America as an amoral socialist pariah ill-suited to helping a neighbor. What changed from the Tsumani days to today? Why. Obama happened. To Rush no matter the issue or the humanity required he is out for just one thing, score political points even while the rest of America is horrified by what they see on TV, the masses of dead people on the streets of Haiti and look for ways to help. To Rush those are what mere black people why care? right? Rush cares only about himself, he's nothing more than the morning show shock jock who has transferred his ability to generate controversy to the AM talk radio format.
I was recently chatting with someone who wished Rush Limbaugh would die already or better yet get throat cancer so that he is never able to speak again so that he doesn't continue to use his podium for hate. That got me thinking of something a relative once said to me; “evil people die last, good people die first”
Rush Limbaugh ain't dying any time soon, he will continue to use his free speech to spew and encourage hate for anyone who does not look like him or does not agree with him and in fact get paid 400million for several years to continue to do so. Since Obama won, Rush has gotten more hateful driven by fear and greed, he's getting worse and that can last only so long. Even his most loyal listeners will end up drawing a line somewhere someday… could be soon or could take 10 years but Limbaugh will implode and will do so spectacularly.
Makes you wonder, Rush is on radio because he has sponsors do those sponsors ascribe to what Rush says and believes? If not shouldn't they take a stand against it? I've always believed that if one sees something wrong being done and says nothing, that person is just as guilty as the one doing wrong.
Thoughts?

Oprah's "Obama" Christmas Special preview! 1st Family Stockings, 27 X-mas trees, gifts & more!

Oprah's “Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Primetime Special” airs Sunday at 10 p.m here's a preview from Oprah on the special:
On how she got the interview/special;
From the very first day they moved into the White House, I started calling Robert Gibbs and asking not for the first interview because number one, I didn't think I was going to get the first interview for the first 100 days – but I wanted an opportunity to sit down with them in a comfortable setting that all of America would be familiar and relate to. So I started asking when they first moved in to do a Christmas Special because I wanted to be at the White House during Christmas time and to experience their first Christmas in the White House. So this has been in the making for a very, very long time.
Oprah details the 27 Christmas trees in the White House and holiday decor and says she interviewed Obama in the never-before-filmed-in green room, “where Thomas Jefferson used to have lunch.”
Among the other highlights:
“The President gave himself a grade. This was not about grilling the President, this was really about me wanting to come and experience Christmas at the White House – their first Christmas with them. So I wasn't here to grill him, I was curious as to what he thought he had done, what kind of job he thought he had done and ask him for his grade. You'll see what the grade is. The grade might surprise you.”
About gift-giving:
OW: Is there a greater pressure to give a good gift when you're the President or can you get away with a lesser gift if you're the President
First Lady: What are you gonna get me? You should feel pressure-
President Obama: I have given some good gifts – you get some nice stuff – here's the general rule, I give nicer stuff than I get
OW: Really?
First Lady: No way I gave you good gifts last year
President Obama: Absolutely – aw come on please. You know its like mother's day and father's day-
First Lady: We're talking about Christmas, don't become distracted…
President Obama: But that principle applies generally

President Obama accepts his Nobel Prize, an incredible, moving speech... plus pictures!
The president of The United States, Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize today. He gave an incredible acceptance speech… with highlights like this
"Somewhere today, in the here and now, in the world as it is, a soldier sees he's outgunned, but stands firm to keep the peace. Somewhere today, in this world, a young protester awaits the brutality of her government, but has the courage to march on. Somewhere today, a mother facing punishing poverty still takes the time to teach her child, scrapes together what few coins she has to send that child to school – because she believes that a cruel world still has a place for that child's dreams.
Let us live by their example".
He was awarded by the world, and it was quite amazing to watch. Given that he didn't ask for it, he didn't campaign for it and has be attacked for being given this award, his speech needed to raise above everything…
And it sure did.
Here are some pix of Mr and Mrs Obama's Oslo trip…

Mark Ndesandjo Obama, breaking his media silence
This is Mark Ndesandjo, otherwise known as Barack Obama's younger brother (same father/different moms). He now lives in China (9 yrs now) has a Chinese wife, has degrees and masters in physics and engineering… teaches Piano too.....
|
|
Mark, who is an American citizen, has written a fictional/autobiographical book he's now promoting. He talked to The Associated Press about the self published book titled Nairobi to Shenzhen, (in the book he doesn't much talk about his famous brother) in the AP interview he talks about his relationship with President Obama, their abusive father (he used to physically abuse Mark's Jewish mother)… interesting might check out this book. The Obama's are good looking boys! He is also remarkebly simillar to his famous brother, highly educated, smart, private, even his voice is almost similar to Barack Obama's. His book is undoubtedly going to do well given the media interest in him in China and in America. |
That said, in the TV clips i've seen of him he wears some crapy head band thing, trying to extra-Africanize himself… ummmm he needs to cut that shit out. He is an American, grew up in Kenya, with a name like Obama… he doesn't need to Africanize himself in appearance to help prove a point
His and Baracks' other much younger and poorer half sibling in the Kenyan slams is also writting a book that will be published by Simon & Schuster an American publishing house. Others int he Obama world with books coming out are Barack's sister Maya Soetoro-Ng and Barack's brother-in-law, Craig Robinson. Between all these books we should get a pretty good picture of Obama's family and life.
Will you read his book? Is it just shameless capitalization of his brother's high profile?
