Usher’s “Raymond vs Raymond” album release has been pushed back to March 30th. This is the 3rd or 4th delay… the reason? Why, Mommy Dearest Jonetta Patton, who came back to manage Usher after he ended his marriage to his 2 children's mother Tameka Raymond to please the public and his mother, decided to quit once again as his manager because allegedly Usher newest “older” arm piece Grace Miguel had ideas for Usher's album release or something....... his mother didn't think much of that so decided to hightail out of there once again.
All this is according to the NY Daily News:
“She walked away from the project because Usher had his girlfriend [and former Def Jam executive] Grace Miguel was all in the mix,” says the source. “She felt as though if she didn’t end things when she did, it would permanently affect their personal relationship,” continues the source. Usher had apparently declared that he would manage himself, with the help of Miguel, but the label felt that “there was chaos in the camp.”
Usher is a grown man, yet his mommy dearest wants FULL control of her son's career and no say from anyone else; girlfriend, wife or otherwise. Usher having been in the music business for long at the end of the day decides and has to agree on any advise, suggestions from management, label, family etc no? I suspect Beyonce, Jay-Z and others have management but at the end of the day they make their own decisions on what they want to do. Usher's mom can surely do her job even with others involvement without 100% say no?
This story for us reads for something much bigger; Usher and his relationship with his momager. Does Usher's mom want full control of her grown son so much so that she wants or has a say on his women and what those women are allowed to say and not to say on her son's life and work? Would her ideal women for her son be the ones that are the trophy girlfriends or wives? The look pretty and say nothing kind? The evidence so far reads this way, Jonetta liked Chilli – who by the way IS the same age as Tameka Raymond and HAD a child when she and Usher started dating. Did Jonetta like Chilli more because she didn't offer her opinions on Usher's career? or was it that she was deemed prettier or “lighter skinned” than Tameka hence more ideal? Clearly Usher loved Tameka some to be with her, to have married her, and fathered 2 kids with her within 2 years, I mean he wasn't blinded and forced to father those two kids was he? Or did he “fall accidently” into Tameka twice leading to kids being born?
Grace Miguel is the 3rd OLDER woman for Usher, apparently she too has 2 children … and is “light skinned” as AA's like to call it, so what's the common thread?
Tameka being a stylist to the artists for more than 15 years, must have had thoughts on how Usher could do things, Usher's mom hated that, so much so she refused to attend her only son's wedding, severed her relationship with her son that even with 2 grandchildren, she still could not accept Usher's wife, leading Usher to choose to leave his wife and kids for his career or was it for his mother?… In the process throwing Tameka Raymond under the bus for good measure… for the sake of sales… “Papers” anyone? Really? So once again because of Grace........ Usher has chosen to “lose” his mother.. again? What does that say about Usher and what he thinks of his mom? or what he truly wants? Might Raymond vs. Raymond now speak to him vs his mother as opposed to him vs his ex-wife or him vs himself?
Grace is claimed to be a music industry executive (how good or not is not relevant here), of course she has clearly spoken up about her “ideas” and again Usher's mom hates that so she quits again. 2 out of 3 makes a pattern, that shows the problem lies with Usher and his relationship with his momager, she's unwilling to let go of her grown son and I suspect guilt's her only son by quitting him any time she doesn't like his choices, that guilt leads Usher to end up going back to his mother to please her and the cycle continues. Is he ever going to come out from under his mother and her wishes to be his own grown ASS man?
Will Usher man up or will he remain a man child? At this point people can't blame Tameka or Grace or any other woman in his life; Usher can and should make his own choices on advise he gets and what to do with it for his career.
All that said, Raymond vs Raymond leaked fully a few weeks go, its not the standout album it could have been, at least not to Usher's previous standards, its not doing well, not getting the buzz he and his label could have wished for, could that be the driving the delays? The first single, “Papers,” which was released last September, hyped using his “divorce” and throwing his children's mother under the bus in the process, only reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, was quickly down graded to a “buzz single” buzz indeed it was but not for the reasons they thought, ended up with a negative effect..... the label then released, “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)” (video below) which is so far not doing exceptionally well yet, and next will be “More.”
Lastly is Usher still viewed as “hot” or “sexy” anymore, if yes those women and men aren't coming out in full force to support his music just yet. Does that mean he's lost his final mojo? What would he need to do to get his mojo back?

Never met Tameka, don't know her, don't really care. And why just Tameka? I mention Chilli and Grace too I'm I a stan for Grace too? This is ABOUT Usher, his mother and his choices.
At least respond on the merit of the actual article instead of making accusations. Clearly you think otherwise re: his decisions… so say that and why.
Good perspective in this article Kas. It seems Grace is walking down the same road Tameka just did…which is a shame. His mojo is gone with me and his mom should walk away for good – so that he can learn the lesson from his last album about standing.
How do YOU know that Usher and his Mother are beefing? Or that any of what you claim to know is true? Just because his album is pushed back? Please, ya'll bloggers need to stay out of people's business period. If the album is pushed back, it's pushed back. It's def industry standard nowadays for many reasons, not because someone is beefing with their mother. SMDH.
Just going by the news report that said they were beefing, i quoted that report and linked to it. If it wasn't true though wouldn't Usher or his mum or the label have come out and denied this story by now? its been several days now, the silence is revealing no?
Albums are usually pushed for many different reasons, management, not testing well, buzz not reaching a degree they like etc etc… so far these seem like logical reasons for Raymond vs Raymond to be pushed back… not a good sign wouldn't you agree?
First of all, please learn to write if you want to have a blog. This garbage is hard to understand, does not make much sense and gave me a headache trying to get through it.
If an album is pushed back there are so many reasons that it would be hard for someone with your “lack of intelligence” to comprehend. One of the main reasons for pushing back an album is for the purpose of sales. The original date of release was around late November, early December…Do you know how many artist released albums during that time? Mary J, Mariah, Chris Brown, Snoop – just to name a few. The date of release is important for sales, just like the release of a movie (it's all competition).
If Jonetta was such a bad “momager” (as you put it), please tell me how she was able to take a 13-year-old kid to a mega-millionaire R&B superstar. This is a woman who had NO experience, just a dream that her son had and that she allowed him to pursue. Why would she allow someone like Tameka to step in and ruin that? She is a stylist, they come a dime a dozen. Hell, I can dress somebody, but that does not mean I can guide their career.
By the way, Chili is “dark skinned.” Some of you guys really need to get over the skin color complex. It's not relevant to our society right now. There are just a few of you that are still holding on to that ignorant way of thinking. Chili is sweet. Tameka has an ugly personality. Tameka's actions make her unlikeable. There are so many people who have actually encountered “storm Tameka” and people talk. We haven't seen Usher have to call 9–1–1 on Chili, nor have we seen him call to report Chili keying his car.
THIS IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH TAMEKA: How would you feel if your son was a multimillionaire and this nearly 40-year-old married woman with 3 kids starts dating him and just “pops” up pregnant. That's not a good start at all. Yes, we know it takes 2 to tango, but as a woman of that age you know by now how birth control works. SO it kinda-sorta makes Tameka look like she got “knocked up” on purpose, i.e., gold-digger, groupie. Get me drift.

NO one disputes Jonetta's work for her son leading to who he is today, she's done a pretty good job, however he's a grown man now, even she has to acknowledge that when working with her son and know he will listen to others as well. There is a reason, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, and other child stars who were managed by their parents LEFT their parents management at some point to become their own person and still were successful. Beyonce is still managed only partly by her parents, but she now has independent management why is that? Kids grow up and parents have to accept that however good their management may be when a child grows up they will want to listen to other people too whether or not the parent/momager likes it or not, they have to be allowed to make their own mistakes and learn from them.
As for the women/girlfriends in Ushers life? that's his choice isn't it? I don't know much of the back story and frankly i don't care. Usher is a grown man who's clearly attracted to older women, Chilli was 7 years older than him and had a child, Tameka was also 7 years older with children, from news reports it appears they were together a while before Tameka got pregnant in which case it wasn't a “appear out of nowhere pregnant now is it” story was it? Grace the rumored new woman in Usher's life appears apparently more than 7 years older than the dude… 3 older women in a row what does that say about Usher and what he wants? Shouldn't he have what he likes even if its older women with children? why blame those women when Usher chooses them?
