AMOUR Is The World's Most Romantic Word?

“Amour,” the French word for love, has been voted the most romantic word in the world by language experts beating out “amore,” Italian for love, “Bellissima,” which is both Italian and Spanish for “very beautiful,”, and “tesoro,” which is both Italian and Spanish for “treasure”

The linguists voted Japan‘s “watakushi-wa anata-wo ai shimasu,” as the least romantic-sounding way to say, “I love you” in any language, ahead of the Welsh “rydw i’n dy garu di”

Interesting. Amour for me represents that old beautiful romance, the sunset/sunrise airy feel of love and romance, long courtships, flowers, long romantic walks, long love letters..... Amore on the other hand gives me the hot Latin thrusting sort of love, fast, fiery and exciting the kind you see in a paso doble dance…

If you had a vote what would have been your choice?

Happy Valentines Day.

New Music Video: We Are The World, A Michael Jackson Classic Ruined For A Good Cause

Here's the music video for We Are The World 25

Lionel RichieQuincy Jones decided to remake this classic to raise money for Haiti. Their efforts were for a good cause and their hearts were in the right place commendable effort for sure, however in my opinion they have ruined a classic.

Butchered; complete with auto-tune, rap, Jamie Fox's laughing on such a serious occasion (his impersonation was quite spot on though) commentary, Justin Beiber opening the song? Lionel Ritchie to Justin Beiber? You have Gladis Knight in the crowd yet Nicole from Pussy Cats does the “uhh ohhs”? I could go on and on.. If they did this purely to be “relevant” to the new generation, I hope it really works, because Haiti does need the help, sad though is this generation will never get to know true talent, that was in the 80s.

The video editing, is even more of a disappointment, chopped up, all over the place, unorganized. Choices of voices to highlight, confusing and uninspired, Janet sings 2 or 3 words and even then you can hardly hear her, the way the split screen is done, seems to do both her and Michael Jackson no favors. Of everyone in the group, in this video Michael Jackson's voice pierces through and towers over all of them . Says something no?

I wonder, would Michael Jackson have approved of this were he alive? Michael Jackson was famously known for his perfectionism, when the original WRTW was made he didn't sleep or eat because he wanted every part of it to be perfect. And it was, he helped create that magic that turned into a classic that can never be matched, going on to raise more than $60 Million for Africa.

Wouldn't Lionel, Quincy and Haiti been served better had the group just written a brand new song for the cause, one that could have stood on it's own merits, inspired many to give, instead of being compared to a perfect and highly acclaimed classic?

Haiti still needs all the help and money they can get, I have and will contribute, please do if you can.

John Mayer's Foot Bullets; Is It Racism, High Digree Of Stupidy Or A Lack Of Formal Education?

By now you have undoubtedly heard of John Mayer's latest round of foot bullets via his interview with Playboy Magazine where he talks, and talks and talks..... about Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, his supposed racist dick, endless masturbation, complete with a N*gger mention, all that has everyone on the “internets” and beyond in quite a tizzy.

John “apologized” first on Twitter, saying,

“It’s such a shame that I [used the N-word] because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged… I wanted to be a blues guitar player. And a singer. And a songwriter. Not a shock jock. I don’t have the stomach for it. Again, because I don’t want anyone to think I’m equivocating: I should have never said the word and I will never say it again. I just wanted to play the guitar for people.”

and then again his teary “apology” on stage in Nashville last night.

I put “apology” in quotation marks because as you've noticed, of his whole interview he seems to be apologizing only for the N word mention, but not for any of the other equally stupid things he said in the interview, or the people he slammed in that interview.

Reading the JM's interview, I couldn't help thinking that John Mayer is basically a regular (not evil) horny douche guy with an unfortunate penchant toward hoof-in-mouth disease.

Stupid? yes, to the highest degree, not because he is not intelligent, given his many other interviews you know he's got some intelligence, he just lacks a formal education that would have helped him phrase his thoughts differently, less inflammatory, less ridiculously or stupidly as he tries to “shock” or stay relevant.

Racist? I think not. We all have to agree that its ok for John to say he's not attracted to black women, its a preference of his and that's ok. He may have chosen the WORST way of expressing that thought, choosing to declare his dick a card carrying, certified member of the KKK but that doesn't make him wrong or discriminatory… in fact his whole interview left me thinking John has a serious inferiority complex with a lack of self awareness to know that and so over compensates by being overly sexualized and completely self absorbed.

As for the N*gger mention? his quote sounded to me more in same spirit/vein as Harry Reid‘s infamous “Obama lacks the negro dialect, hence will be nominated and will win” quote, inarticulate yes, but true and not derived from racism, in fact quite contrary, John actually had a point to make on the “hood pass” thing, he just didn’t phrase it the best way he could, and that said, did someone give John Mayer the hood pass and no black person knew about that?

John now says he's done with media/interviews and just wants to play his guitar, well, go do that son.. the whole “shock” thing is not working for ya.

Usher's "Mommy Dearest" Issues Cause Album Release Delay #3! Loses His Last Mojo?

Usher’s “Raymond vs Raymond” album release has been pushed back to March 30th. This is the 3rd or 4th delay… the reason? Why, Mommy Dearest Jonetta Patton, who came back to manage Usher after he  ended his marriage to his 2 children's mother Tameka Raymond to please the public and his mother, decided to quit once again as his manager because allegedly Usher newest “older” arm piece Grace Miguel had ideas for Usher's album release or something....... his mother didn't think much of that so decided to hightail out of there once again.

All this is according to the NY Daily News:

“She walked away from the project because Usher had his girlfriend [and former Def Jam executive] Grace Miguel was all in the mix,” says the source. “She felt as though if she didn’t end things when she did, it would permanently affect their personal relationship,” continues the source. Usher had apparently declared that he would manage himself, with the help of Miguel, but the label felt that “there was chaos in the camp.”

This story for us reads for something much bigger; Usher and his relationship with his momager. Does Usher's mom want full control of her grown son so much so that she wants or has a say on his women and what those women are allowed to say and not to say on her son's life and work? Would her ideal women for her son be the ones that are the trophy girlfriends or wives? The look pretty and say nothing kind? The evidence so far reads this way, Jonetta liked Chilli – who by the way IS the same age as Tameka Raymond and HAD a child when she and Usher started dating. Did Jonetta like Chilli more because she didn't offer her opinions on Usher's career? or was it that she was deemed prettier or “lighter skinned” than Tameka hence more ideal? Clearly Usher loved Tameka some to be with her, to have married her, and fathered 2 kids with her within 2 years, I mean he wasn't blinded and forced to father those two kids was he? Or did he “fall accidently” into Tameka twice leading to kids being born?

Grace Miguel is the 3rd OLDER woman for Usher, apparently she too has 2 children … and is “light skinned” as AA's like to call it, so what's the common thread?

Tameka being a stylist to the artists for more than 15 years, must have had thoughts on how Usher could do things, Usher's mom hated that, so much so she refused to attend her only son's wedding, severed her relationship with her son that even with 2 grandchildren, she still could not accept Usher's wife, leading Usher to choose to leave his wife and kids for his career or was it for his mother?… In the process throwing Tameka Raymond under the bus for good measure… for the sake of sales… “Papers” anyone? Here's what Ush's “papers” lyrics contained

I done damn near lost my mama, I done been through so much drama
I done turned into the man that I never thought I'd be.

Really? So once again because of Grace........ Usher has chosen to “lose” his mother.. again? What does that say about Usher and what he thinks of his mom? or what he truly wants? Might Raymond vs. Raymond now speak to him vs his mother as opposed to him vs his ex-wife or him vs himself?

Grace is claimed to be a music industry executive (how good or not is not relevant here), of course she has clearly spoken up about her “ideas” and again Usher's mom hates that so she quits again. 2 out of 3 makes a pattern, that shows the problem lies with Usher and his relationship with his momager, she's unwilling to let go of her grown son and I suspect guilt's her only son by quitting him any time  she doesn't like his choices, that guilt leads Usher to end up going back to his mother to please her and the cycle continues. Is he ever going to come out from under his mother and her wishes to be his own grown ASS man?

Will Usher man up or will he remain a man child? At this point people can't blame Tameka or Grace or any other woman in his life; Usher can and should make his own choices on advise he gets and what to do with it for his career.

All that said, Raymond vs Raymond leaked fully a few weeks go, its not the standout album it could have been, at least not to Usher's previous standards, its not doing well, not getting the buzz he and his label could have wished for, could that be the driving the delays? The first single, “Papers,” which was released last September, hyped using his “divorce” and throwing his children's mother under the bus in the process, only reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, was quickly down graded to a “buzz single” buzz indeed it was but not for the reasons they thought, ended up with a negative effect..... the label then released, “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)”  (video below) which is so far not doing exceptionally well yet, and next will be “More.”

Lastly is Usher still viewed as “hot” or “sexy” anymore, if yes those women and men aren't coming out in full force to support his music just yet. Does that mean he's lost his final mojo? What would he need to do to get his mojo back?

Alexander McQueen Gives Up On His Pain, Commits Suicide At 40. RIP

Fashion designer extraordinaire and icon Alexander McQueen has taken his own life at his home in London. He was 40 years old. It is being reported that the designer hanged himself just few days after his beloved mothers death a week ago. Alexander was very close to his mother and it appears that he could not handle living without her and so took his own life. His suicide comes exactly 3 years after his closest friend also committed suicide. He was due to show his latest collection in NY at Bryant Park today. The show has been cancelled as the fashion world struggles to understand and deal with AM's death.

Here's a picture for Mr. McQueen and his beloved mother from 2001

Doesn't matter how rich, famous, creative or otherwise you are, pain is pain and today McQueen decided he's better off dead, that's an unimaginable type of pain that takes one there.

RIP Alexander McQueen what a tragic loss indeed.

Rinanna Roots Back To The "Rude Boy" And Wins! New Music Video!

Check out Rihanna's latest music video for her single “Rude Boy” from her latest album Rated R.

RiRi is an island girl, Barbados to be exact, she couldn't have done this video better, she's fun, she's dancing (as opposed to the sexualized, walking fashion show/billboard she's been doing in her few music videos with little dancing, no inspiration or uniqueness), the island vibrant colors and 90s effects of the video work perfectly with the gist of, and, sound of the song yet stays sexy and inviting.

Someone I know twitted this about Rihanna's new video

LeeZett K.Haring + Grace Jones as a stripper vampire doing performance art. Yep, it all inspired RudeBoy
How so true.

Will this video help Rated R's sales figures?
